Christmas—The “Yes” to Every Promise: Advent Day Twenty-Four

Read:
 Micah 5:2–4 (NIV)
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times… He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.”

Reflect
On that holy night in Bethlehem, God was doing more than just sending a baby—He was confirming every promise He’d ever made. Christmas is God’s resounding “Yes!” to the longings and hopes of His people.

Micah’s prophecy looked back to David, the shepherd-king of Israel, and looked ahead to David’s greatest Son, the Messiah. The links are unmistakable:
  • Bethlehem: David’s hometown—the “city of David.”
  • Ruler: David was Israel’s greatest king, but the Messiah would rule forever.
  • Shepherd: David cared for sheep and for people. Jesus would shepherd God’s flock with strength and majesty.

What’s amazing is that Micah delivered this promise when hope seemed lost. Israel was collapsing, the kingdom was crumbling, and God’s promises looked impossible. Yet, God’s Word stood firm.

The apostle Paul says it simply:
“All the promises of God find their Yes in [Christ].” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Christmas proves God keeps His word. If you belong to Jesus, every promise God has ever made is yours—guaranteed, secured, fulfilled in Him. Even when things look bleak or impossible, God is faithful. He will do what He has said.

So this Christmas, let your heart rest in the faithfulness of God. Receive Jesus as God’s greatest gift, and rejoice that in Him, every promise is yours.

Quotes for Today:
“All the promises of God find their Yes in Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 1:20
“Christmas is God’s great confirmation of all his promises.” – John Piper
