Romans 8:23-25 (NIV)
"Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." |
Reflect
Waiting is not something most of us enjoy-it's uncomfortable, often frustrating, and can leave us wondering if God sees or hears us at all. In our culture of instant everything, patience can feel almost unnatural. Yet, Advent is a season that intentionally slows us down, reminding us that waiting is woven into the story of God's people.
Paul puts words to our experience when he says that "we groan inwardly as we wait eagerly." Whether you're longing for healing, reconciliation, breakthrough, or simply peace, know that God is not distant in your waiting. He is present, working behind the scenes, shaping us in ways we often can't yet see.
At the center of waiting is hope-not wishful thinking, but deep trust. True hope looks forward, believing God for what isn't visible yet. If we already had everything, we wouldn't need hope. God invites us to place our unmet desires, unanswered prayers, and weary moments in His hands.
Advent reminds us that God keeps His promises. The birth of Jesus was the fulfillment of centuries of waiting. And now, as we wait for Christ to return and for God to make all things new, we do so with patient, expectant hope. Waiting with God is never wasted time.
Quote for Today

"Light always comes to those who wait in the dark." - Ann Voskamp
