Serve Day Devo: Day One

Jesus Meets Needs

Scripture: Matthew 25:36-40

We’re so well taken care of by the Lord. He meets our every need. And He has many creative ways of doing it. What’s so beautiful is that He uses us to meet others needs.

This happens in community.

We see a friend going through a hard time and we’re there for them with a chicken spaghetti casserole and prayer. God wants us to bring other people into this too, not just the ones we know. Jesus sees everyone and wants to meet their needs.

This happens as the church.

He wants to use our church to meet the needs in Shreveport/Bossier. We get to come together as a church to clothe, feed, welcome, and prepare for people in our city on Serve Day. From painting a room to visiting the elderly to trimming a bush, we are all being used by God to meet a need. God has made each of us with unique gifts and talents that we get to use to serve others. Together as one body, we make a difference. With our hearts set on love, everything we do to serve others brings glory to Him!

Every organization we partner with daily meets the real needs of people in our community. Serve Day is a chance for us to meet their needs too.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for the ministries that we are serving alongside on Serve Day.
  • Pray for the Lord to use our church to meet the needs of the people we interact with.
  • Pray for our hearts would be open to being used by the Lord

They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. … But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. … ‘This is the covenant I will establish … I will put...
