Serve Day Devo: Day Three
Why Serve Day?
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many"
Mark 10:45
No one wants to spend one of the hottest days of the summer doing manual labor. But, biblically, love is often pretty inconvenient. Realistically, we could all donate a bunch of money and hire people to do all of these jobs, and they might even do it better than us. But that’s not the point. The point is to connect with the heart of Jesus for those in need. The point is to connect with people and point them to Jesus. The point is to connect our hearts & minds with the mission of Jesus: loving and serving others.
Serve Day is our opportunity to make deeper connections and serve in a deeper way. It exists to stir in our hearts the truth that there’s more to life than ourselves. It’s to get us out of our routine and into situations we don’t normally see, interact with people we normally wouldn’t, and get a little uncomfortable in the name of love. Serving helps us become more grateful and less selfish. It’s not always easy, in fact at times, it can be a little painful. And prayerfully, that pain becomes a motivator to do more. It’s a heartache from the real pain that runs deep in our city. But we approach it with the hope and faith that it can be healed through the love of Jesus.
At Serve Day, we’re connecting with people and organizations who are making both a day-to-day and an eternal impact. It’s a chance to fall in love with the mission of Jesus and decide that you want to really be a part of it.

It’s a one day set up for a lifetime practice of selfless serving.
One of the best ways to continue this practice is to lead or join an Outreach Small Group! These groups are a great way to connect with others and make serving the community a regular part of your rhythm. If the Lord moves your heart with Serve Day, pray about being a part of these groups.
There’s so much opportunity to love more! Tomorrow, let’s be looking for Holy Spirit led moments of connection and compassion and be ready to serve our hearts out!
