Grace Upon Grace—The Heartbeat of Christmas: Advent Day Twenty-Five

Read:
John 6:51 (NIV)
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
Reflect
Merry Christmas! Today, we celebrate the greatest gift: Jesus—the eternal Son of God—became flesh and moved into our world. John’s Gospel doesn’t tell the Christmas story with shepherds or angels, but instead weaves the story of Christmas through every page, reminding us again and again: the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth (John 1:14).
The heart of Christmas is grace. Not just a little grace, but “grace upon grace” (John 1:16)—layer upon layer, overflowing and never running out. Jesus didn’t come to condemn but to save, to give Himself as living bread so that anyone who believes in Him can live forever.
The glory of God, revealed in Jesus, is not cold or distant. It’s full of grace. He came for us—to free us from guilt, shame, and the power of sin. He came to fill us with life and to bring us home to God. As John 3:16–17 tells us,
The truth Jesus brought—truth with a capital “T”—is not just information; it’s liberation. “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). That freedom is possible because Jesus is the living bread who gave His life for ours.
So today, rejoice! Christmas is the celebration of God’s grace poured out in Jesus, the bread of life, who came down for you. Receive Him. Feast on His grace. And let this be the joy that fills your Christmas and every day to come.
Quotes for Today:
“From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” – John 1:16
“Christmas is for salvation, not condemnation.” – John 3:17

Why Don’t I Care? Steps to Overcoming Spiritual Apathy
March 12th, 2026
One of the most frustrating parts of my life is that I’m not as passionate about God as I should be. I imagine many Christians feel similarly. There are some, however, for whom this feeling goes deep and lasts long. Some of us may find ourselves in the midst of a long stretch of feeling fairly indifferent about the things of God. We know that Bible reading, prayer, church involvement, missions, eva...

Take a moment and imagine a deserted landscape at high noon. Rolling plains stretch before you, perhaps a bit parched and brown. In the distance, mountain ranges frame the horizon. The heat is oppressive—the kind that makes most people seek shelter. At the center of this scene sits an ancient well, and beside it, a solitary figure waits. This isn't just any traveler resting from a journey. This is ...
