What does it mean to follow Jesus?

We may hear the term “Christian” often, but what does it really mean to follow the Jesus of the Bible? It means to know Jesus personally—to know His heart, what matters to Him, and to become more like Him daily. We believe that everyone is invited to take the next step on the journey—whether you've been saved for 5 minutes or 50 years. This is the Gospel at its simplest—living as followers of Jesus’ way. We believe that, as we follow Him,  our personal lives, church family, and our communities will be transformed.

On our journey with Jesus, we encounter fundamental questions that shape our understanding of faith. This course is designed to help get you started on the journey of spiritual formation, help you get unstuck if you’ve stalled out, or just guide you into taking your next step. Ultimately, its goal is to train you to live as an apprentice of Jesus: to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did.

Salvation

The Gospel of Jesus is the good news that God himself, the Creator, has come to rescue us from sin, and renew all things, in and through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is offered to all of mankind because of what Jesus did on the cross -- not by our own human efforts, but through belief and an active faith in this Gospel, which is empowered by the Holy Spirit.

If you've received Christ as your Savior and Lord, you are part of the family of God! And are invited on the life-long journey of following Jesus and walking in His ways.

Water Baptism

Water Baptism is a symbol of commitment, similar to a wedding ring. When a couple marries, they give each other a ring. This ring doesn't make them married; the covenant they made to each other does, but the ring symbolizes that covenant to others. Put simply, Water Baptism is a public proclamation of your faith in Jesus Christ. 

If you've received Christ into your life as Savior and Lord, we encourage you to take this important step as soon as possible!

Prayer is communicating with God. Not just talking - but waiting, and listening. Through prayer, we have an opportunity to interact with the Spirit of God, and to participate in His work in our lives and communities.

It’s our hope that as you grow in the discipline of Prayer, talking to God would become more natural, relational, and effective.

Bible reading is an essential habit for all followers of Christ, because everyone is being formed by something. The question is, what is forming us?

We believe the Bible is inspired by God and transforms us into His likeness as we study and apply its truths.

We believe God designed us to experience freedom and healing through our relationships with others -- specifically others in the family of God, The Church. At Celebration, the primary way we aim to build those relationships is through Small Groups.

Small Groups are how we "grow smaller" as a church, and how we care for each other individually. Committing to grow in these relationships are a vital part of your journey with Christ.

We believe God made you with a unique design, and a specific purpose. First our general purpose as Believers, which is to know God and walk in His ways. Understanding this general purpose is foundational for learning to walk in your specific, God-given purpose. We want to equip you to discover the specific purpose God has called you to live out.

Giving

The stewardship of our finances is a tremendous — but often overlooked — area of our lives. Giving generously is one way we can faithfully proclaim the Gospel we have received! It strengthens our devotion to Christ and frees us to live open-handedly with the gifts God gives us. We trust in Him and His provision instead of our perceived self-sufficiency.

As people of faith, we give faithfully and generously to God, in response to His generous heart toward us.

Jesus' final words to His disciples before leaving earth was a command, to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20) Missions look different for everyone; some are called to go into other parts of the world, some are called to give financially, but we are all called to reach those in our neighborhoods, work places, and schools.

We believe that to fulfill the Great Commission, it is our responsibility to take the Gospel to the world, near and far.
