John 5:44 (NIV)

Reflect
When it comes to Christmas, we're often focused on what we want-gifts, experiences, or the approval of others. But what if the most important preparation isn't about our surroundings, but about our hearts?
God, who owns everything, knows what our souls need most. This Advent, maybe the ache you feel-the longing no present or accomplishment can fill-is God's way of inviting you to something deeper. He wants to give you what truly lasts: comfort for your past, hope for your future, and freedom to live fully right now. All of this is found in Jesus.
So how do we actually get ready to welcome Christ?
Let go of the need for people's applause.
Jesus challenges us in John 5:44, asking how we can truly believe if we're more concerned with what others think than with seeking God's approval. When our hearts chase recognition from people, they struggle to receive the glory that comes from God alone.
Recognize the limits of "stuff."
It's tempting to believe that more money or nicer things will finally satisfy. Yet they never do. Jesus points out how even religious leaders were obsessed with wealth, missing what mattered most.
Allow your longing to lead you to more of God.
Instead of ignoring or numbing that inner ache, let it prompt you to look up-to long for the comfort and redemption that only Christ can give.
Ask God to open your eyes.
Only God can reveal how wonderful, powerful, and present Jesus truly is. When He does, Christ becomes more than a tradition-He becomes our living hope.
This Advent, may your soul be ready-not just for the season, but for the Savior. If you feel a longing that the world hasn't satisfied, see it as God's invitation to receive Jesus as your true consolation and redemption.
