You were Created by God, for a Purpose, to Know Him, Find Freedom, and Live to Make a Difference.

From Slavery to Sonship—The Gift of Belonging: Advent Day Sixteen

Read:
 Mark 10:45 (NIV)
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Reflect
Have you ever felt like an outsider—like you just don’t belong? The truth is, before Jesus, that was all of us. We had run from God, sold ourselves to sin, and found ourselves trapped, far from home.
But here’s the good news of Christmas: Jesus came to pay the ransom. He didn’t come demanding to be served, but to serve us—and to lay down His life so we could be set free.

Paul describes it beautifully in Galatians 4:4–5:
“When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son... to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”

Jesus took on our humanity so He could suffer and die in our place. His death broke the chains of sin, death, and the devil. And the result? We’re not just forgiven—we’re welcomed into God’s family. We are sons and daughters, loved and wanted.

Christmas means that ransom has been paid. You don’t have to earn your way in, and you’re not stuck on the outside anymore. You’ve been brought home by the costly love of Jesus.

Quotes for Today:
“The ransom is ultimately about relationship. Yours to God, your merciful Father.” – John Piper
“God sent His Son not just to rescue you, but to bring you close.” – Max Lucado
