The Gift That Says, “You Are Enough” – Advent Day Fifteen

Read:
Matthew 2:10 (NIV)
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”
Reflect
When the magi finally reached Jesus, the joy they felt was overwhelming. They didn’t come just to admire a baby or to get something for themselves. They came to worship. And their worship was expressed not by what they could get, but by what they were willing to give up.
Worship means joyfully ascribing ultimate authority and worth to Jesus, not out of duty, but out of delight. The gifts the magi brought—gold, frankincense, and myrrh—were not a way to buy God’s favor or meet His needs. God doesn’t need anything from us. Instead, their gifts were a visible, tangible way to say, “Jesus, you are our greatest treasure. We have not come for your things—we have come for you.”
It’s a lot like fasting. When we give something up for God, we’re saying, “Lord, my deepest joy is not in these things, but in you.” Our gifts, our sacrifices, our worship are all ways of declaring that Jesus is enough. He alone can satisfy our hearts.
So this Advent, ask God to stir up in you a deeper desire for Christ Himself. Let your giving, your serving, your worship all point to this truth: Jesus, you are my treasure. You are enough.
Quotes for Today:
“You are my treasure, not these things.” – John Piper
“Worship is giving God the best that He has given you.” – Oswald Chambers

The Radical Power of Grace: More Than Just a Second Chance
February 23rd, 2026
There's something profoundly misunderstood about grace in our modern Christian culture. We've reduced it to a comfortable catchphrase—"God's unmerited favor"—and while that's technically correct, it barely scratches the surface of what grace truly means for our lives.Grace isn't just about getting a second chance. It's not about God giving you another opportunity to try harder or do better. If tha...
How to Invite Loved Ones to Church
February 17th, 2026
How often do we casually invite our family or friends out to dine at our favorite restaurant, check out some views at our favorite rooftop, or even grab the best desert at the most Instagram-able location we’re sure they’d love? It’s easiest when we’re almost certain of their response, and it’s even easier when it’s a shared common interest. When we truly love and enjoy something we obsess about it...
Suffering Well Pt. 2
February 12th, 2026
When life gets hard, our instinct is to run. We want out of the difficulty, away from the pain, free from the struggle. We pray desperate prayers for escape, for rescue, for immediate relief. And if we're honest, we sometimes wonder why God doesn't respond the way we think He should. But what if suffering isn't something to simply escape? What if there's a profound purpose woven into the fabric of ...
